Ukraine, located in Eastern Europe, is second only to Russia in land area.
For centuries Ukraine has been dominated and fought over by the Russians,
Lithuanians, Poles, French and Germans. Independence was declared in August
1991, signaling the end of all hope of retaining even a modified form
of the USSR. Ukraine has long been known as the 'bread basket' of Russia
and Europe. The moral and ethical vacuum created by Communism has had
devastating social consequencesdeceit, fear, unwillingness to make
decisions, and, with freedom, crime, drugs, murder, sexual promiscuity
and pornography, have further degraded society.
